Mr. James T. Powell obtained his B.A. from Gettysburg College, Pennsylvania in Biology and Business. He subsequently received his M.S. in Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Working under Dr. Kevin Carnevale, in the Department of Pathology, James studied the molecular mechanisms of restenosis and the role of phospholipase a2 (cPLA2). After moving to Jackson, WY, James worked briefly as a paramedic before beginning work with the Institute for Ethnomedicine in 2013. His current research interests involve genetic identification and screening of cyanobacterial toxins from marine and terrestrial sources.
